This years lockdown kept us all very busy, some worked from home while the "lucky" few were out and about carrying out non-contact deliveries, keeping customers warm while also keeping everyone safe!
It was an incredibly busy period so thank-you from all of us at Otago Pellet Fires for your continued support and patience as we adapted to a workplace spread out across the city. We still have plenty of stock available so if you need pellets you can either come on down to the showroom, order online using the form on the wood pellets page or give us a call and we can organise that for you. Now that we are back in the office we can announce our new arrival - the Champion Tria which is in the showroom now, if you would like to have a look then come on down to 550 Kaikorai Valley Rd and we would love to show you it in action.

What a year 2020 has been, covid reshaped it for us all.
Here in the south of NZ most of us can say we don’t personally know anybody that has been infected, compared to the rest of the world that's something to be grateful for. However many businesses have suffered badly and most affected in various ways. We were entering our busy period so timing was bad. Pre lockdown we had unprecedented demand for pellets with long queues and supply issues. During lockdown we closed our showroom but continued with non contact home deliveries. Post lockdown we had a large backlog of work to catch up with, but we made the best of it and just carried on. We are planning for a better 2021, we will to start with a special on pellets (currently working on the details). We have new improved pellet fire models coming and can offer increased subsidies (terms and conditions apply). Our showroom is closed from the 18 December and open again on 18th January, you can still ring or email if you need to. 034881133 or [email protected] Wish you all a Happy Xmas and new year We are alwaying looking for new models. Seven happy yearsSeven years after they bought their pellet fire, it is still the best option for one Ravensbourne couple. John and Elizabeth McAllister bought their pellet fire from Otago Pellet Fires to replace their old heat pump and said it was the perfect choice to heat their small cottage home. ‘‘It is a wonderful thing,’’ Mr McAllister said. ‘‘It’s extremely easy to use.’’ The pellet fire was ‘‘fabulous’’ and he was able to heat the whole house with it just by opening all the doors, he said. They had had a wood burner in the past but did not want another one because they were hard work and it was difficult to keep the wood dry. ‘‘The pellet fire is much easier because the pellets are delivered.’’ Mr McAllister liked that the pellets were chemical-free and easy to use. There was no smoke, no fumes and it was good for the environment, he said. ‘‘It’s an organic product.’’ The service from the team at Otago Pellet Fires had been ‘‘second to none’’, he said. Someone from the team would be at their home at the ‘‘drop of a hat’’ if there was ever a problem. Mrs McAllister said the team was very professional. ‘‘I am really impressed with them.’’ She liked that she was able to control the temperature of the pellet fire and that it would switch itself off if anything went wrong. Mr McAllister said the couple was ‘‘thrilled right from day one’’. ‘‘It’s just perfect.’’ Prize unit makes ‘huge’ differenceA new pellet fire has made a ‘‘huge’’ difference for a Waitati family. Fleur Sculpher won Otago Pellet Fire’s pellet fire and fuel package competition and had it installed recently. Ms Sculpher noticed the difference almost immediately — the home she shares with her three children is warmer than ever. Before the pellet fire was installed, the main source of heat was a gas heater, which did little to dispel any condensation and caused the windows frames to expand so much Ms Sculpher had to tie them shut. Now there is barely any condensation at all. The pellet fire was installed in the lounge and the fan in the fire meant the heat travelled through the house ‘‘nicely’’, she said. ‘‘We are not sitting here with piles of blankets. ‘‘We’re usually in T-shirts because it’s so warm.’’ The pellet fire was very ‘‘userfriendly’’ and the bags of pellets made it easy to keep the fire going, she said. It was much easier than cutting firewood and would be more economic in the long run, she said. ‘‘I just feed the pellets in and away it goes.’’ With winter well and truly here, the pellet fire could not have come at a better time for the family. ‘‘It’s going to make a big difference.’’ A quiet, efficient heating solutionA quiet, efficient heating solution A range of Rika pellet fires is now available at Otago Pellet Fires. Warm and quiet, a Rika pellet fire is the ideal solution for your home heating needs.
The heat is naturally distributed and pellets are continuously fed, which reduces the noise. Rika pellet fires don’t use a fan to disperse heat, so noise and dust is eliminated. Each pellet fire comes with touch screen control, which allows the user to have complete control over the temperature of the room. Another major plus to the Rika range is that they can be controlled from a PC or mobile device that has internet connection. That means you can turn it on when you’re out and come home to a warm house. The app is easy to use — all you need is a user account on the Rika website. The fires are stylish and selfcleaning, so don’t require a lot of maintenance. A clean pellet fire can also heat for longer periods of time. Plus, because they use pellets, they are easier to maintain than a fireplace, which means nomore cutting firewood and carrying it indoors. So give Martin and the team at Otago Pellet Fires a call on (03) 488-1133 to get a Rika pellet fire installed in time for winter. What our Customers have to say.
"No more stacking wood or cutting kindling, and Otago Pellet Fires made it easy. They handled the whole process, even removed our old fire and wrangled a consent out of the council. All we had to do was write the cheque, then sit back and watch the show. We will never go back to a log burner, all that fuss. With a pellet fire you pour it in, press a button and away she goes." |
